Auckland (Sachin) - The government of India has eased the restrictions on entry of certain foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) card holders, into the country, amid restrictions on entry of people from other countries due to Covid - 19 pandemic.
The Ministry of Home Affairs in its directions on Friday, allowed entry of OCI card holders on account of family emergencies like critical medical conditions of immediate family members or death. The minors who are OCI but whose parents are Indian nationals have also been allowed entry in India.
Foreign nationals who are single parents of minor children holding Indian passport or OCI cards, can also enter India.
The married couples, where one spouse is OCI and the other is Indian citizen, can also enter India. In addition, students who are OCI, but at least one of their parents is Indian national or OCI card holder, have also been permitted to enter India.
Foreigners were not allowed to enter India ever since countrywide lockdown was imposed on March 24 to contain the spread of Covid - 19.
