AUCKLAND (Sachin Sharma): Resignation by New Zealand health minister David Clark on Thursday has created buzz among the US citizens as the country grapples to contain the spread of COVID - 19.

As the Donald Trump led US government struggles to contain COVID - 19, many US citizens reacted to resignation by New Zealand health minister.

Clark resigned Thursday saying his continuation in the role is distracting for the government’s overall response to COVID-19 and the global pandemic.

Some of the Twitter users in US mocked their government and said Clark is available for his services in their country as their own government has failed to control the pandemic.

Some users asked the US leaders to follow Clark's example and step down for failing to contain spread of COVID - 19.

"So you're saying he's available? Asking for America," wrote one man.

Another person noted that at least Clark had "honour" for stepping down.

"Wouldn't it be great if Terrible Trump followed his (Clark's) example and did the same thing. OK, back to our nightmarish reality," wrote another.

"Can he come here n help us out?? We're the worldwide leader in missed steps," one American wrote.

Education minister Chris Hipkins, has been given the charge of health portfolio after Clark's resignation until September general elections.
