AUCKLAND (Sachin Sharma): US are a kind of dreamland to live in for people all across the world. However, COVID - 19 seems bringing changes in this perception. As the pandemic has hit the world very badly, not only the people from other countries but large number of Americans also want to migrate New Zealand.

As per the website of New Zealand Immigration as many as 2, 50, 000 Americans have applied expressing willingness to live in New Zealand since March, when the pandemic broke out . An American clicks the website every 30 seconds.

Reason for this is obvious. New Zealand has fought and won the war against COVID - 19 pandemic. On the other hand, the political and healthcare system of US has proved to be one of the worst in the world during this time.

New Zealand at present has only 24 active cases of COVID -19, which are the people who had come from overseas and were kept in managed isolation. Whereas US has witnessed COVID - 19 cases nearly equal to New Zealand population while over 1, 50 , 000 persons have died from the disease. These figures are increasing with each passing day.

Citizens of Britain too are eager to shift to New Zealand as over 50, 000 Britons have applied for this during pandemic period. According to experts, during the COVID - 19 period, there has been a rise of 160 percent in the number of people in developed countries who want to migrate to New Zealand.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern too has earned worldwide fame for effectively tackling the pandemic, while the real estate market too is booming here. As the pandemic is spreading its tentacles across the world, New Zealand is emerging as preferred choice to live in. Only the time will answer how long this trend sustains?
