AUCKLAND (Sachin Sharma): New Zealand government has expressed solidarity with Lebanon after Beirut explosion that killed at least 100 people.

New Zealand High Commission to India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka wrote on Facebook that New Zealand stands in solidarity with Lebanon

"Minister for Foreign Affairs Winston Peters has announced NZ will provide $500,000 for the provision of lifesaving medical support and urgent humanitarian services in the wake of the Beirut explosion," wrote High Commission.

"New Zealanders who want to support the response are encouraged to make financial contributions through credible relief organisations rather than attempting to send material support such as blankets, food or medicine."
