AUCKLAND (NZ Punjabi News Service): Even as electioneering is at its peak for October 17 elections, the issue of leadership in opposition National Party has popped up once again.
As rumours are rife about party leader Christopher Luxon sta – seen as future leader of party – wishing to be at party’s top position, he hasn’t ruled out these rumours.
Asked about these rumours he said, "No, Chris Luxon's got to win Botany. Chris Luxon's got to get to Wellington”. Asked if he wants to be Prime Minister his reply,” The first best step to get to Parliament. Just take it one step at a time”, clearly indicate his ambitions.
Ruling Labour Party, meanwhile, has taken dig at the opposition over these rumours. "The alternative is an Opposition party that is focused on it," Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said.
Her wingman Grant Robertson said: "They (National Party) have lurched from leader to leader to leader”.
