AUCKLAND (NZ Punjabi News Service): To make aware people of different communities in New Zealand about importance of turban for Sikhs, Canterbury Punjabi Association celebrated 3rd Canterbury Turban Day on Saturday.
Leader of Punjabi community Narinder Singh Warraich said that the day is being celebrated to tell people about importance of turban for Sikhs. Local Sikhs offered passers-by the chance to wear a turban and learn about their religion.
Warraich said people of other communities who wore turbans on this occasion were curious to know why Sikhs wear turban and asked several questions. The organisers of event thanked team of Radio Sadeala, Mortgage Advisor Khushpreet Sidhu, Smart Fitting and Stitching and other volunteers for making the event a success.
