AUCKLAND (Sachin Sharma): The New Zealand's Supreme Sikh Council has extended help of Rs two lakh to wife and daughter of Bhai Gurmej Singh Fattu Dhinga, who was martyred in the Operation Blue Star in 1984.
Bhai Bagicha Singh had uploaded a video after talking to family, highlighting the financial condition of family comprising Gurmej Singh's wife and her 36 year old daughter. Besides this, Davinder Singh Raja Virk of Dubai has also helped family with Rs 25,000.
According to the video, Bhai Gurmej Singh was security guard of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and was killed in 1984 Operation Blue Star attack on Golden Temple. After Gurmej's death, pressure was put on his wife by in - laws to get remarried but she had denied and brought up her daughter with limited resources. Due to utter poverty, daughter hasn't yet got married.
