Auckland (Avneet Kaur) Students and staff at ICL Graduate Business School were evacuated on Tuesday around 11am after the institution received a threat email, prompting an emergency response at its Auckland CBD campus on Lorne Street.
In a message sent to students via email, the college said the evacuation was being carried out “as a precautionary measure” while the matter was being assessed by relevant authorities.
The notice instructed everyone to remain calm, follow staff directions and leave the building immediately through designated evacuation routes. Students were also told not to return to campus until further notice.
“Your safety and wellbeing are our highest priority,” the message stated.
The incident caused concern among students attending evening classes at the private tertiary institution, which is located in the heart of Auckland CBD near Queen Street and serves a large number of international students.
The college said further updates would be shared through official emails once authorities confirmed it was safe to resume normal operations.
It was not immediately clear what type of threat had been received or whether police were treating the incident as credible. Authorities had not publicly released additional details at the time this report was published.
ICL Graduate Business School is a private training institution based at 10-14 Lorne Street in Auckland CBD and offers programmes in business, informatics and education.
